Forward step up - beginning plyometric Exercise

This exercise can be initiated with a lower step (a single riser is fine) and then progressed to the higher step shown here. The goal is to make the step UP a very powerful thrust and it helps to use your arms to assist by swinging them forward and up as you step. If you do this on a step as shown, simply step off the front and land lightly on two feet as if you were landing on hot pavement. You may find that you have a rebound jump up after landing. Turn around and step up onto the step with the opposite foot. Repeat as directed by your coach. An alternate form of this exercise is to go up a flight of stairs taking them 2 or more at a time, emphasizing the "power" phase of stepping up.
