Balance and Hip Rotation

The balance and hip rotation exercise is intended to build hip rotator strength and also to stimulate your sense of balance. Stand beside a chair and balance on your left leg. Lift your right leg up and over the chair seat until it just touches the floor in front of the chair seat. You'll rotate your body as you do this but the left foot will remain stationary. You're pivoting your body as a unit. You shouldn't have any pain in the hip or knee as you do this, but you may find it challenging to maintain your balance. Don't rest your foot on the floor when you get to the finish position, just lightly touch down and then lift it back up and over the chair to return to the start position.
